The company, which began operations as LAMEX-DEM MARITIME Nigeria Limited in 1986, started as a clearing, freight and forwarding agency in Lagos, Nigeria. Services rendered at its inception included clearing, freight forwarding and warehousing operations, as well as adjunct import and export support services.

Alhaji Olanrewaju Rasaq Akanni Mohammed Mashika, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LAMEX Group; a multi-national conglomerate, was born in Lagos State, Nigeria to the family of Alhaji & Alhaja (Mrs.) Bamgbose Mohammed Masika, a native of Sodeke ijemo Abeokuta, the Southern Local Government Area of Ogun State.

He began his professional career with a shipping company, LEMMIE Agencies Limited, where he distinguished himself and rose to become the Head of Operations. With the zeal of entrepreneurship burning in him, he left the company in 1986 to establish what has now become a massive conglomerate: LAMEX Group, a business interest with diverse investments in Maritime, Aviation, Haulage, Logistics, Oil & Gas and Hospitality, among others. From a little beginning, the company which started as a freight forwarding agency in Lagos, has grown in all ramifications into what it now is, today.

With over three decades of rich entrepreneurial experience, Alhaji Olanrewaju Rasaq through the dint of hardwork, foresight, resilience, vision and quest for excellence, has emerged not only as one of the leading business icons in Nigeria, but that which is also reckoned with, across the world.
